Historical NotesPolitical poster from a collection of fourteen political campaign buttons, six campaign posters and photographs pertaining to the political career of William R. Robinson and other local candidates. Robinson was a former Pittsburgh City Councilman and served in the Pennsylvania Legislature since 1989.Label TextThis poster recalls the campaign to re-elect Louis Mason, Jr. to Pittsburgh City Council. Mason, initially elected to council in 1967, became the first African American city council president in 1970 serving for seven years. In 1975 he headed the Mayor’s Commission on Human Relations and served for seven years as its director. Additionally, he served as Director of Industrial Relations for the Urban League of Pittsburgh, and Deputy Director of the Fair Employment Practices Commission.
