Historical NotesTall case clock made by John Parker of Pittsburgh, PA.Label TextOn the face of this TALL CASE CLOCK, often called a “grandfather’s” clock, appears the name of John Parker, who is listed in the 1801 Pittsburgh Tax Inventory as a clockmaker. Although many people think of Pittsburgh as a “frontier town” in the early 1800s, objects like this indicate highly skilled craftsmen were making furnishings for discriminating and rather wealthy clientele.
