Henry Shellenberger of Fayette County may have possibly been the maker since similar chalice-shaped urns and curved leaves grace a secretary with his signature.Label TextThe vine and leaf inlay on this early 19th chest of drawers is a decorative element characteristically found on furniture made in southwestern Pennsylvania. Henry Shellenberger of Fayette County possibly may have been the maker since similar chalice-shaped urns and curved leaves grace a secretary signed by him. The chest’s drawer arrangement and height are 18th century characteristics that the cabinetmaker continued to use even though they were becoming outmoded.
