DescriptionCollage on rectangular piece of white cardboard. Glued onto the cardboard are pieces of pink and red cardstock covered with black, grey, and red pieces of tissue paper. The tissue paper has been colored on with various shapes and colors of oil pastel. The oil pastel includes: light green, light blue, white, and yellow.Dimensions8 x 11 in. Artist and teacher Samuel Rosenberg (1896-1972) had a prolific career in Pittsburgh, leading him to be called the “Dean of Pittsburgh painters.” He is perhaps best-known for his scenes of the Hill District in the 1920s and 1930s. Rosenberg was a beloved presence in the Pittsburgh art world and influenced numerous artists through his teaching careers at the Irene Kaufmann Settlement, Young Men & Women’s Hebrew Association, and Carnegie Tech.
