Historical NotesHandbag belonging to Cora Asher Fell. The Shubert Alvin Theatre was opened in 1891 by Charles L. Davis and was located on Sixth Street between Penn Avenue and Fort Duquesne Boulevard. Built for dramatic presentations, the theater was converted to a motion picture theater by the Harris Amusement Company, the company that owned the first nickelodeon. Part of a collection related to Lee and Cora Fell of Uniontown, Pennsylvania, and the Fell menswear store. Donor Jean Crawford's mother, Sara Michael, was a seamstress at the store and received these items upon the death of the Fells.
