Six fabric-covered buttons on both sleeve cuffs. Skirt flares. Train. Zipper on proper left side. Purse. Cream satin. Triangular shape, rounded corners. Gold metal chain handle, with gold metal trim on top; buckle with two pearl beads over top center. Inner pocket with printed makers mark in metallic gold print; pocket held both two-sided rectangular mirror and beige satin mirror case.Dimensions56 x 21.5 x 23 in. (142.2 x 54.6 x 58.4 cm)

Historical NotesWorn by the donor Jean Woods' mother, Louise Irwin (1914-1999) when she married Carson Woods in 1939. Louise was from Ligonier, Pennsylvania, where she taught first grade until getting married. After her husband passed away in 1953, she went back to teaching and earned a master's degree in archival studies at Duquesne University.
