DescriptionSamovar. Silver urn. Conical body, wider above circular base. Two handles: embossed flowers on each handle; base of handles decorated with image of the face of an animal with tongue sticking out, feathery wings(?) on both sides of face. Historical NotesSilver samovar used at the Hotel Henry, most likely to hold warm water for tea. D.F. Henry opened the Hotel Henry in 1896(7) and promoted it as the only fireproof hotel between New York City and Chicago. Located on Fifth Avenue, the hotel had 160 rooms, each with a telephone, bathroom, and running water.
