DescriptionRectangular fraternal badge. Brass pin and plate; front covered in plastic covering; colored image of two shaking hands. Short looped black silk ribbon attached to bottom of pin, connects to bottom ribbons. Circular silk rosette decoration, four layers, red, white, and blue, with gold metallic start with coils in center. Blue silk ribbon with gold text and shaking hands and heart decoration. Gold coiled fringe at bottom. Backside: same pattern and lettering as above. Black and white circular silk rosette decoration with silver metallic star and letters. Dimensions3.125 x 10.5 in. (7.9 x 26.7 cm)
InscriptionsBlue silk ribbon with gold letters, "SV. MICHAL ARCHANJEL [accent over I] / CIS. 41 [accents over C & I] / EVANJ. SLOV. JEDNOTY. / [shaking hands] / PITTSBURG, PA. / [heart decoration]".

Historical NotesThe United Lutheran Society was formed in 1962 when the Slovak Evangelical Slovak Church Union of the Augsburg Confession in America, founded in 1893, and the Evangelical Slovak Women's Union, organized in 1906, merged. This fraternal benefit society is now open to all persons of the Lutheran faith and provides life and health insurance. It is headquartered in Ligonier, Pennsylvania.
