Historical NotesThis defibrillator was carried by the first ambulance service to the Hill District operated by the Freedom House, a non-profit minority-owned business; originated c. 1967; began in conjuction with Port Authority service to Model Cities neighborhoods and based at Presbyterian Hospital.Label TextOwned and operated by the Freedom House Ambulance Service. The ambulance service, started in 1967, was the first service to the Hill District was a non-profit service to the Hill District based at Presbyterian Hospital. Initiated with support from the Port Authority and the Model Cities neighborhood program, The Defibrillator is a cardiac (heart) monitor used in emergency service to detect and monitor heart rates for emergency patients.
