Historical NotesDonated by William Himmelstein. William Himmelstein was issued these boots when he was called to active duty with the Air Force Reserves during the "Berlin Crises" in 1960-1961. According to Himmelstein, the boots were "left over" from WWII or early Korean War, prior to the 'Mickey Mouse' cold weather boot. Himmelstein was a flight mechanic on the C 119 Flying Box car and converted KC97's.
