Historical NotesFootwear worn by USAF Lt. Major Mary Jeanne Flaherty when she worked at the 171st Refueling Wing, based at the Pittsburgh International Airport. As Base Communications Manager in Pittsburgh, she directed the supply of communications gear for the 171st which was deployed in Saudi Arabia (Desert Shield/Desert Storm) from 1990 through 1991. Major Flaherty's career spanned over 27 years, including service in Korea in 1974, and in Saudi Arabia during desert Storm / Desert Shield in 1990-1991.
