Historical NotesT38 flight boots plane-flown by Jay Apt for flight training. This style was one of several boot choices Astronauts could make at the beginning of their T-38 aircraft training. Apt selected this calfskin cordovan style as easy to put on and giving good ankle support. The Nitrene soles give good traction and protection against chemicals. He wore these boots on all T-38 flights from August 1985 through his final T-38 flight on May 27, 1997. Label TextFlight suit and boots worn by Jay Apt for training, c. 1990
