DescriptionSaint Patrick's Day badge. The front of the button has a printed image of a painted Saint Patrick decorated in a crown with a staff. Behind his right shoulder, the sun is shining and near his staff is his name printed in small black lettering. Under the letter is an image of a three leaf clover. The back of the button is plain metal with fastener. Attached in the fastener is a green ribbon. The ribbon has gold printed text.Dimensions5.875 x 1.75 x 1.75 x 5.5 in. (14.9 x 4.4 x 4.4 x 14 cm)
InscriptionsOn button, near the figure's staff is text "SAINT / PATRICK" printed in small black lettering.

In gold print, the ribbon reads "1996 / SAINT / PATRICK'S / DAY".
Historical NotesPart of a collection relating to the life and political career of Lieutenant Governor Catherine Baker Knoll. Born in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, Catherine Baker Knoll worked in the family business, Knoll Hotel and Restaurant, developing her people skills and beginning her political activism. In 1970, she became a state committee woman for the Democratic Party, then rose through the ranks of the state's Department of Transportation Bureau of Motor Vehicles. She was tapped by the party in 1976, to run for State Treasurer, but did not get elected to office until 1988. She easily won a second term in 1992, by a landslide vote. In 2002, she was elected as the state's first female Lieutenant Governor.
