DescriptionCircular campaign button. White and blue. The background of the front of the pin is white. Printed on the white is slogan in blue curvy lettering; it is underlined in blue. Along the bottom edge is organizational name printed in smaller blue lettering. Underneath that print are organizational acronyms printed in small blue lettering. In between the slogan and the organizational name there is a circular symbol with the letters printed inside. The back is plain metal with fastener.Dimensions1.875 x 5.9 in. (4.8 x 15 cm)
InscriptionsPrinted on front is "Woman / of / Steel" in blue lettering.

Along the bottom edge, "UNITED STEEL WORKERS OF AMERICA" printed in smaller blue lettering.

Underneath that print "AFL-CIO-CLC" is printed in small blue lettering.

In between "Woman of Steel" and "United Steel Workers of America" there is a circular symbol with the letters "GOU" printed inside.
Historical NotesPart of a collection relating to the life and political career of Lieutenant Governor Catherine Baker Knoll. Born in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, Catherine Baker Knoll worked in the family business, Knoll Hotel and Restaurant, developing her people skills and beginning her political activism. In 1970, she became a state committee woman for the Democratic Party, then rose through the ranks of the state's Department of Transportation Bureau of Motor Vehicles. She was tapped by the party in 1976, to run for State Treasurer, but did not get elected to office until 1988. She easily won a second term in 1992, by a landslide vote. In 2002, she was elected as the state's first female Lieutenant Governor.
