Historical NotesModels of railcars, a mine motor, coke ovens, a larry car and push ovens of the Keystone Coal and Coke Company built c. 1950 for the owner's son Johnny Burkett by an employee of the company. The Greensburg based company began in 1902 as a merger of several smaller Westmoreland County based coal companies. The first general superintendent was Harry F. Bovard, who had owned one of the smaller coal companies, and their first President was Jilian B. Huff a local businessman in Greensburg. In 1910 Keystone had about 35 mining operations in the area. The company closed in the late 1930s.
