DescriptionPlastic hard hat. Faded white. Brownish/yellowish in color. Front center of hard hat has off-white sticker with company. MarksBack of helmet says "B 3 C".
Yellow sticker inside has red printed text "MSA / BUMP CAP / CAUTION / This is NOT A Safety Cap"; additional small writing is located between "BUMP CAP" and "CAUTION" but it is unclear from soot.
Under all of this, the sticker reads "MINE SAFETY APPLIANCES COMPANY / Pittsburgh, Penna. / Made in U.S.A. 994122".
"MSA" is embossed on underside of bill of hat as well.
Historical NotesPart of a collection belonging to Bernie Burns. The collection documents Firefighters Local No. 1, the firefighting union of which Bernie Burns was the president; his life as a firefighter; and additional items that document growing up in Lawrenceville in the 1960s and 1970s.
