Historical NotesThis hat is part of a political memorabilia collection from the donor's family. They used the objects to show their support for the Democratic Allegheny County Commissioner team of Leonard Staisey and Tom Foerster. Staisey, a state Senator and judge, and Foerster, a seven-term state legislator, frequently campaigned together from the late-1960s through the mid-1970s. As Commissioners, their administration pursued expansions to the county park system and its social service network, anti-pollution efforts, and the construction of the Community College of Allegheny County, among other projects.
