Historical NotesSt. Cyprian Lodge Prince Hall Masons cap.Label TextRichard Howell Gleaves, District Deputy Grand Master west of the Allegheny Mountains, established the St. Cyprian Lodge, No. 13 of the Prince Hall Free and Accepted Mason in 1847. It became the first Prince Hall Lodge founded west of the Allegheny Mountains. Martin Delany served as the first Worship Master of the Lodge. The organization had abolitionists and emigrationists among the Lodge brethren including Jonathan Green, William Trusty, Alfred H. Johns, George Vashon, and Rev. Fayette Davis. The cap is a traditional headdress worn during official gatherings.
