"P.B.F." is written in black marker along the break on the front brim of the helmet.
"50" is also written on the longer back brim.
Along the underside of the back brim is "HRW" printed in white. In black marker right underneath the letters is "Mike B." in black marker.
Historical NotesDonor Bernard Burns indicated the helmet belonged to Henry P. Woods originally (Captain at 8 Engine in East Liberty), but it is apparent that a "Mike B." used it as well. He later became Post Commander of American Legion Post 5 of East Liberty. Also later became Commander of State Amreican Legion for Pennsylvania Part of a collection belonging to Bernie Burns. The collection documents Firefighters Local No. 1, the firefighting union of which Bernie Burns was the president; his life as a firefighter; and additional items that document growing up in Lawrenceville in the 1960s and 1970s.
