Historical NotesLenore Kight Wingard's identification badge from the 1936 Berlin Summer Olympics. Donated by Cleon Wingard, whose mother, Lenore Kight Wingard, was an Olympic swimmer and an internationally renowned athlete in the 1930s. Lenore Kight Wingard was from Homestead, Pa. She held over two dozen National swim records and nine world records, and Lenore was considered a premier freestyle and relay swimmer in the 1930s. Trained at Homestead by legendary coach Jack Scarry, she participated in the 1932 and 1936 Olympics. After marrying, Lenore moved to Ohio and continued to swim and coach throughout her life.
