Historical NotesWilliam Alexander Lowry (b.1842) served in the Union Army and, after suffering an injury at the close of the Civil War, joined his father in the hotel business, becoming manager of the Lowry House in Butler, Pennsylvania. He married Annie L. Ziegler, daughter of Jacob and Sarah Ziegler, and had a family of five daughters; the family resided in the same house as the Zieglers in Butler. The house was razed in 1965.
