DescriptionShort, square, chamber stand, set on bracket feet; wood construction (probably poplar) which has been stained a deep red color to resemble a finer hardwood; reeded columns at corners, side panels have a shallow scrolled fretwork design. The chamber pot is metal, with a blue enamel finish on the outside, and white enamel inside; it has a bail-type carry handle, and an enamelled metal lid.Dimensions16.325 x 15.5 x 16 in. (41.5 x 39.4 x 40.6 cm)Historical NotesThough acquired from Allegheny County as part of the "Lincoln Bedroom" suite of furniture, this item almost certainly dates from a later period; though possibly associated with the Monongahela House, the decoration resembles a chair that the donor feels may have come from Hartwood Acres.
