Historical NotesThis mural by Samuel Rosenberg orginally hung in St. Henry's Roman Catholic Church in the Arlington neighborhood of Pittsburgh from 1952-2006. The mural's subject is based on the Biblical verse of Mark 10:14, "Suffer the little children to come unto me and forbid them not: for of such is the Kingdom of God." This piece was commissioned by Pittsburgh architects Marlier and Johnstone, who designed St. Henry's RC Church on Arlington Ave. in Arlington. Rosenberg used local children and parishioners of St. Henry's as models for the mural, which hung in St. Henry's entryway. He is said to have completed the piece at friend and fellow artist Kindred McLeary's house in Humbert Valley, Somerset County, and presumably transferred the piece to St. Henry's upon completion. St. Henry's was closed and consolidated into St. John Vianney Parish in 2005.
