Painting depicts a wooded landscape of mostly bare trees with a creek running through the scene from the viewer's left background to the right foreground. Branches and tree trunks in the foreground are light-colored and the mid-ground and background tree trunks are dark-colored. Tree branch in the viewer's top left quadrant has pink flower blossoms. Ground is various greens, browns, and grays with scattered gray stones. Blue sky in the background. Reverse of paper is white and unpainted with scattered black smudges and watercolor media. Historical NotesWatercolor, "Spring Break," 2000. Nat Youngblood was an artist from Indiana who moved to Pittsburgh after WWII. He was the art director of the Pittsburgh Press for 30 years and painted many images of Western Pennsylvania history. He passed away in 2009.
