Historical NotesDisabled American Veterans key chain. Part of a collection that belonged to various members of donor Alan J. Davidson’s family who were from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This tag belonged to the donor’s father, Alan R. Davidson, resident of McKeesport, Pennsylvania from 1948-1958 and Clearfield, Pennsylvania from 1959-1967. These tags were an ongoing, nationwide fundraising activity of the Disabled American Veterans. The DAV mailed them, gratuitously, to people when they got new license plates, asking only that the recipient consider making a donation. The DAV’s selling point was that, if the tag were attached to one’s car keys, they’d return the lost keys to their owner.
