DescriptionBar set including Firkin ice bucket comprised of firkin base, firkin lid, and plastic ice bucket insert as well as a set of four (4) matching old fashioned drinking glasses and product card.
Firkin ice bucket base. Circular brown pine wood barrel-like base with two metal barrel hoops and wooden handle. Body is wide at the base and tapers inward toward the open top. Front of firkin has applied rectangular paper apple butter product label with images of fruit and company and product information. Underside is recessed and has stamped black maker logo at center.
Lid for firkin ice bucket. Circular brown pine wood lid with short, straight sides. Top has applied circular paper label with white keystone at center surmounted by red key and surrounded by company information; same emblem as drinking glasses.
White plastic ice bucket insert. Cylindrical bucket is circular at the base and widens toward the open top and protruding rim.
Set of four (4) matching old fashioned drinking glasses. Each is cylindrical colorless glass with straight sides and thick base. Front of each glass has applied Heinz emblem with white keystone at center surmounted by gold key and black text surrounded by red border with white text and gold side banners with white text; emblem contains 18k gold; same emblem as firkin lid.
Product card. Square cream-colored textured paper card that is folded along the viewer's left edge. Front has black text at top and bottom framing a central holly wreath with firkin ice bucket (a-c) at the center flanked by four old fashioned glasses (d-g) (two on each side). Interior pages have black printed text and illustrations of a Heinz apple butter firkin and wooden pail and drinking glass fabrication. Back of card has central holly wreath with red bow framing Heinz logo at center; bottom edge has printed black maker text. Historical NotesHeinz firkin bar set that was a 1988 Christmas gift. This item reflects the company tradition of Heinz employee Christmas gifts that used historic advertising and bottle labels and design. Toni Graupe continued to receive the gifts after her retirement. Part of a collection of Heinz giveaways and employee gifts belonging to Toni Graupe, who was a long-time employee of the company. Graupe was the daughter of German immigrants, and she grew up on Voskamp Street in Spring Garden before the family moved to 3681 Spring Garden Avenue where she lived the rest of her life with her sister, they had no children. Graupe retired from the Heinz Company in 1990 after working for the company for 47 years. Graupe worked in the insurance department. She was also a lifelong member of St. Aloysius Church in Troy Hill.
