Historical NotesFarkleberry Tart beer can. Farkleberry Tart beer from Burghers Brewing Company in Lawrenceville and Zelienople is a Berliner Weisse style sour beer infused with blackberry. It is named in honor of KDKA radio announcer, Jack Bogut, whose creativity for radio gags was put to good use in an annual holiday fundraiser that broadcasted live from department store windows in downtown Pittsburgh during the 1970s. His riffing on the word “farkleberry” led to countless on-air jokes and the creation of farkleberry-themed products to raise money for Pittsburgh’s Children's Hospital.
