Historical NotesSince the 1970s, donor Kathleen Sullivan has collected furniture and antiques focusing on southwestern/western Pennsylvania items including this linen coverlet marked with an EP. The coverlet was made by Esther Pollock who lived from 1800 to 1874. She was born in Western Pennsylvania, the child of Irish immigrant David Pollock, Jr. and Martha Westbay, a Greensburg native. They were married in Franklin in Fayette County in 1789. Esther was the 5th of 6 children. She ended up in Kansas according ancestry data, possibly to care for her brother’s children after her sister died.
