DescriptionPolice riot helmet. Painted black metal (Kevlar?) helmet with textured surface. Clear plastic face shield moves up and down. Interior is textured olive drab. Interior outfitted with Army green webbed canvas suspension system with olive drab cording at center. Chinstrap mounts mounted inside, but chinstrap is not intact. Text inside helmet on proper right side below suspension system "HELMET PASGT / DLA100-89-F-EA18 / 8470-01-092-7528 / UNICOR".
Proper right chinstrap mount has black text on interior side "...7-6".
Historical NotesRiot helmet worn as part of an Allegheny County Police uniform. Part of a collection that documents the Allegheny County Police. Formed in 1932, the County Police provide policing for the International and Allegheny airports, county property such as North Park and South Park, as well as assisting local police forces when needed. They have a mounted unit, detective division, as well as homicide and narcotics units.
