DescriptionRectangular stained glass sign. Silver-gray metal outer border with perimeter border of yellow transparent textured glass squares. Center has silver-gray metal outer border framing white (milk glass) background of opaque white glass fragments. Center has dark red (ruby) transparent textured glass spelling business name. Glass sections are all separated by silver-gray metal edging and lead solder. Reverse has four gray metal vertical braces that are mounted perpendicular to the sign and evenly divide the sign into five sections.DimensionsHeight x Width x Depth: 24.75 x 60.563 x 0.875 in. Historical NotesThis sign was installed above a door at Wein's Clothing Store. Wein's Clothing Store was a department store in Clarion, Pennsylvania. run by three generations of the Wein family. It was started in 1911 by brothers Philip and Thomas Wein, who had recently immigrated to the United States from Poland. The business was later run by Philip’s three sons, Meyer, Milton, and Charles, and by Thomas’s three sons, Morris, Victor, and Joseph. Morris Wein’s son Alan Wein joined the business in 1982 and later took over the business, overseeing it into the 21st century before closing in 2020.
