Historical NotesThe Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is a national fundraiser for breast cancer research. The race was first run in Dallas, Texas in 1983. The Komen Pittsburgh Race for the Cure 5K began in 1993 with local sponsorship from the National Council of Jewish Women-Pittsburgh Section, chaired by Laurie Moser.
