Historical NotesThe plaque plates document Joseph D'Andrea's efforts in celebrating Columbus’s 500th anniversary in Pittsburgh in 1992 and his role in fixing the Columbus statue in Schenley Park after it was defaced the same year. Joseph D’Andrea was born in Roccamandolfi, a village in the Italian region of Molise, province of Isernia. Late in his career, he was bestowed the position of honorary Vice Consul of Italy in Pittsburgh and was honored by different organizations in Italy because of his role.
