Plaque plate mounted on front at bottom consists of gold-tone rectangle with black metal rectangle on top with gold text. Laminated white piece of paper with black text adhered to back provides information about the plaque.Dimensions12 x 8.25 x 1.625 in. (30.5 x 21 x 4.1 cm)InscriptionsPlaque plate on front at bottom has gold text "GEORGE WESTINGHOUSE ~ FOUNDER / EAST PITTSBURGH PLANT / 1886 to 1988".
Bottom edge of bust has inscribed text "REE: DETRE LIBRARY + ARCHIVES #2014.0085 YASKANICH".
Laminated white piece of paper adhered to back has black printed text "December 2014 / These plaques were given to VIP's such as / George Westinghouse IV and his mother, / Marquita, and sisters, Julia, and Rosalind when / they visited the East Pittsburgh, Large Rotating / Apparatus Plant on the 100th anniversary / celebration in 1986. It is my estimation that / fewer than 150 of these plaques were made / and distributed from a period between 1977 / and the plant closing in 1988 and carry over / into early 1989. / The castings were made in the Westinghouse / Linhart non-ferrous foundry in Wilkins / Township, PA. / Charles B. Yaskanich, Jr. / Ref.: Detre Library & Archives Accession / #2014.0085".
Historical NotesA George Westinghouse plaque given to VIP's, including members of the Westinghouse family, when they visited the Large Rotating Apparatus Plant in East Liberty for its 100th anniversary celebration. There were allegedly less than 150 made. The plaque castings were made in the Westinghouse Linhart non-ferrous foundry.
