Historical NotesBaby blanket used during the christening of Dena Dortenzo. Dena spent her childhood in the predominately Italian American neighborhood of Bloomfield in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was baptized in July of 1971 and received her First Communion on Saturday, May 5, 1979, with her second grade class, both at the Immaculate Conception Church in Bloomfield. She attended grade school at Immaculate Conception. Dena noted that attending Immaculate Conception, where the congregation was made up of first and second generation Italian Americans, many of their Catholic traditions were brought over from Italy.
