Historical NotesA commemorative coal pin from the 100th anniversary ceremonies of the 1907 Monongah, West Virginia mine disaster in which hundreds of Italian immigrants lost their lives. In December 1907, two of the deadliest mine disasters in history claimed the lives of over 600 people of both Marion County, WV, and Westmoreland County, PA. Part of a collection of items related to the recent experiences of Italian Americans in the Western Pennsylvania region, c. 2000s.
