Historical NotesField gathered by Heinz History Center President and CEO Andy Masich. The item was collected during the Consol Energy Harvey Mine Dedication on June 24, 2014. The dedication event, which took place at the mine's Patterson Creek Portal in Sycamore, Pennsylvania in Greene County, also commemorated 150 years of Consol Energy's being in the energy business (since 1864). The mine was named in honor of the executive chairman of the Consol Energy's board of directors J. Brett Harvey. Harvey, who is a fourth generation coal miner, served for 16 years with the company as president, chief executive officer, and chairman of the board. The mine was formerly known as Bailey Mine expansion (BMX). Andy Masich spoke at the dedication event.
