Historical NotesIn 1968 Heinz debuts the wide-mouth ketchup bottle along with a 26-ounce" ketchup lover's ketchup" in an attempt to appeal to a wider audience, gain more supermarket shelf space and raise market shares for Heinz Ketchup. The wide-mouth bottle is pulled because it causes the ketchup to brown too quickly.
