Historical NotesTeddy bear named "NASA Bear" belonging to Jay Apt. Apt was an astronaut for NASA from 1980-1997, when he retired from NASA to become the Director of the Carnegie Museum of Natural History until 2000. As of 2010, he was a professor at Carnegie Mellon University. Teddy bear from the Teddy Bear Reunion, which was held at the Senator John Heinz History Center from November 22,1999 to January 30, 2000. Teddy bears were collected from local celebrities and other important figures and displayed at the History Center during the holiday season. Each lender received a collectible ribbon to commemorate the bear's participation in the event.
