Historical NotesOriginally donated by Ray Shenefelt and transferred to the Heinz History Center in 2007 when the George Westinghouse Museum closed.Label TextBetween October 18, 1943, and July 10, 1945, Westinghouse Air Brake Company produced more than two million bomb nose fuses. The Westinghouse plant at Sunbury also built VT fuses—miniature radio transmitters placed in the nose of a shell and detonated close to their objectives. VT fuses were instrumental in Allied anti-aircraft guns against Japanese Kamikaze pilots.
