DescriptionWooden and brass commemorative plaque. The plaque has four decorative holes carved into the corners, and a decorative groove around the outside of the plaque. There are three brass pieces attached to the wooden backing. The largest is in the shape of a shield and has award text engraved on it. Beneath this is a brass star, followed by a rectangular piece of brass with organization name engraved on it. Reverse is blank with a loop to hang the plaque and a pad at the bottom to rest against a wall.Dimensions11 x 8.5 x 0.75 in. (27.9 x 21.6 x 1.9 cm)
InscriptionsThere are two brass plates attached to the wooden backing:
The largest is in the shape of a shield and has the following text engraved on it: "NIKOLA TESLA, E.H.F. / 1856 - 1943 / INVENTOR - EDUCATOR / FOR OUTSTANDING & / DEDICATED SERVICE / TO THE ELECTRONICS / INDUSTRY";
Beneath this is a rectangular piece of brass with the following text engraved on it: "NATIONAL ELECTRONIC HALL OF FAME".
Historical NotesCommemorative plaque awarded to Nikola Tesla upon his induction into the National Electronic Hall of Fame. Donor Leland Anderson is a writer and researcher who is the author of a number of published works on the electrical engineer and inventor Nikola Tesla. Tesla, who worked for Westinghouse Electric and Manufacturing Company in 1888, was known for his work on the alternating current system, radio communication, and X-ray technology. Beginning in the 1940s and continuing over the next 50 years, Anderson compiled a large collection of research materials documenting the life and work of Tesla.
