DescriptionDress with over top and belt. Brown silk(?) crepe with orange top and brown sleeves. V-neck. Three brown material-covered buttons on each sleeve cuff. Three metal snap buttons and one clasp button on proper left side. Historical NotesThis dress belonged to Louise Irwin Woods. Louise grew up in the Ligonier area and was a graduate of Juniata College. She taught school until her marriage in 1934 to Carson B. Woods. Upon her husband's death in 1953, Louise began teaching elementary school again and also earned her Master's Degree in archival studies from Duquesne University. She appreciated well-made clothing and had things ordered from New York, Baltimore, and Pittsburgh area tailors. The dress was donated by her daughter Jean Woods.
