Historical NotesPart of a Girl's Camp Fire uniform worn by the donor Constance A. Vaskov's mother Edith Jean Lindeborg while living in Braddock and Rankin, Pennsylvania. Designed like a Native American dress with fringe, a leather yoke, and moccasins, the uniform reflects the youth organization’s interest in woods lore, Native American crafts, and outdoor activities. The organization also taught young girls basic domestic skills. The donor remembers that her mother enjoyed being a Camp Fire Girl because of the emphasis on craft making. Edith later taught painting and china decorating after attending commercial art school in Pittsburgh.
