DescriptionCollage on rectangular piece of paper. Paper is compromised of scraps of red, green, and white paper. Paper is covered with pieces of pink, orange, blue, tan, white, and brown paper. There are splotches overall of blue paint. Along the top edge, there are lines of black ink that create geometric shapes.Dimensions5.25 x 7.375 in. (13.3 x 18.7 cm)
Historical NotesArtwork by the Pittsburgh artist Samuel Rosenberg. Artist and teacher Samuel Rosenberg (1896-1972) had a prolific career in Pittsburgh, leading him to be called the “Dean of Pittsburgh painters.” He is perhaps best-known for his scenes of the Hill District in the 1920s and 1930s. Rosenberg was a beloved presence in the Pittsburgh art world and influenced numerous artists through his teaching careers at the Irene Kaufmann Settlement, Young Men & Women’s Hebrew Association, and Carnegie Tech.
