Historical NotesUsed by Betty Sheriff and Jean Stevenson at their Annette's Beauty Shop in Dormont, PA, which they started in the 1930s.Label TextThis PERMANENT WAVE MACHINE has a variety of rollers and clips, each fastened to an electric wire which provided the source of heat. A wet chemical solution was put on the hair, the switch flipped, and in about an hour the hair was permanently waved or curled. Betty Sheriff and Jean Stevenson used this at their Annette’s Beauty Salon in Dormont, which they started in the 1930s.
