DescriptionOpenwork window grating, designed to fit over a window to increase security. Constructed in a vaguely Orientalist lantern or lozenge pattern. Formed from strap iron, with iron rosettes at each juncture, thus producing a grid, which has been riveted to a strap-iron framework. Two double-leaf hinges are bolted to each side, so that the grating could be swung aside for repairs, window cleaning, and maintenance.Dimensions42 x 28 x 4 in. (106.7 x 71.1 x 10.2 cm)
