DescriptionMars High School pennant. Equilateral triangle. Green felt with off-white applied decoration including stripes along left end and center of top and bottom sides and a stylized six-sided star shape at the left. Off-white applied letters at right identify the high school and at left (flanking the star) identify the year. Three pairs of green strips are sewn to the left end.Dimensions13.75 x 39 in., 0.125 in. InscriptionsOff-white applied letters at left "19 / 26" and right "MARS HIGH".
Historical NotesMars High School pennant from 1926. The donor William J. Mehaffey's parents attended Mars High School and graduated in 1926. Mars High School had been built in 1918, on Crowe Avenue. The Mehaffey family were longtime residents of the area and continued to be involved in the local community after they graduated.
