Historical NotesHenry sign from the Old Mill ride at Kennywood Park. The donor, Bridgid Kolakowski, worked at Kennywood from 1975-1977, where she was a ride attendant at the Old Mill. She was given permission by a manager to take the sign home on her last day. Signs like this were used to show visitors how tall you needed to be for certain park rides. The Old Mill, built in 1901, is Kennywood's oldest ride and the world's oldest operating version of the vintage tunnel of love-style dark ride. Over the years the theme has changed many times. The ride is still functioning today as Garfield's Nightmare. Henry is a comic strip created in 1932 by Carl Anderson. The title character is a young bald boy who is mute (and sometimes drawn minus a mouth).
