Historical NotesDepartment of Hygiene award medal given to Elizabeth Winkler, who was a star athlete in basketball and swimming at South High School in the early 1930s. After graduating in 1935, she worked as a monitor at First Presbyterian Church's summer camp in Somerville, Pennsylvania. She died at 20 years of age when she fell down steps at a New Year's Eve party.
