DescriptionLadies of the GAR badge. The ribbon is made up of a main button and two free-flowing ribbons. The round button is covered in red satin, with the city and year written in a circle around a central design of two circles. The outer circle is intersected by a short line at the top, bottom, left and right. The two ribbons are overlapped at the button, but spread out to approximately a 30-degree angle at the bottom. The top ribbon, on the right-hand side, is inscribed with organization name in a capital script; the left-hand ribbon is inscribed with text describing the wearer in a more simple font. The inscriptions are embossed onto the ribbon in a faded gold ink. The reverse side of the ribbon has the maker's mark and the pin.Dimensions1.75 x 3.5 in. Historical NotesPart of a collection relating to the Pennsylvania Grand Army of the Republic and John Remley who served in the Civil War and was active in the leadership of the GAR. The collection documents the military career of a Civil War soldier from the Western Pennsylvania region.
