DescriptionCreamware serving bowl damaged by the Great Fire of 1845; wide, deep, bowl shape, set upon a low ring or foot; probably press-molded, sides of bowl flare outward somewhat toward the rim, which is decorated with embossed repeating beading; the original white glaze is largely obliterated by a coating of scorched combustion products, which have left a pattern reflecting the straw padding used to pack the ware in a box or barrel, which was then subjected to the fire; this damage has provided a range of color, primarily brown and blue, with multicolor iridescent tones.Dimensions2.125 x 8.75 x 8.75 in.
